Highways: The Beijing -Shanghai Expressway
and the network of roads in the city make the Gaoyou's transportation
convenient and quick. Its density is 0.8 km per sq.km. The annual
freight volume is over 50 million tons. It respectively takes
8 hours, 2,5 hours, 2 hours, 1 hour and 0.5 hour to drive to
Beijing(960 km from Gaoyou), Shanghai(300 km), Zhenjiang (70km)
and Yanzhou(60km),
Railway: It is about- half-hour drive
to Yangzhou Station(60 km from Gaoyou) on the Nanjing-Yangzhou
railway under construction( Its opening to traffic in 2004).
It is an hour drive to Zhenjiang Station(70 km from Gaoyou)..
Airports: It takes 2 hours to drive
to Lukou Airport in Nanjing. It take 2.5 hours to drive Hongqiao
Airport in Shanghai . There are many flights to all the places
in the world from Nanjing and Shanghai.

Waterways: The Grand Canal runs through
the city from north to south.. The Gaoyou Lake connects Jiangsu
with Anwei. The Gaoyou's section of the canal is so wide that
a freight ship with 1,000 tons of loading capacity can sail safely
on it.The Yangzhou port near Gaoyou is the first-grade state-run
opening-to-outside port has a wharf where a 10,000 -ton ship is
berthed and multifunctional wharves with warehouses and a port's
commodities inspection organization. It takes 24 hours to go through
the customs clearance procedure at most.

■ Water Supply: The water of Gaoyou
is drawn from the Grand Canal, whose quality is appraised the
first grade according to the state water quality standards. Its
hardness is 100 and supply capacity is 90 thousand tons per day.

■ Power Supply
The power is mainly supplied by the
East China's Power Network, so the power resource is rich. The
substation of 220 kv and the existing substation of 35 kv can
meet the increasing power demand.

■ Gas Supply
The liquefied gas supply center with
pipe has stored 100 tons of the gas. The supply gas capacity is
4000m3 per day. It can supply the gas all round 24 hours.
The piping natural gas capacity is 5.83
million m3 per year which can supply 20 thousand households and
enterprises for use.

■ Telecommunications
Gaoyou telecommunication network can
provide the international direct dealing long-distance call service
, the international and domestic INTERNET roaming movable telephone
service, the telephone conference between the main cities and
FAX service. A large volume digital fiber optical network has
covered the whole city. The international mail express service
has been established and its express mail has reached more than
60 countries and regions.
Gaoyou telecommunication network has
built five communication platforms such as DDN, Exchange in groups,
INTERNET. On the basis of developing the Integrated Service Digital
Union(ISDU) and public figital telecommunication service,the Integrated
Service Digital Wide Network for cable TV and telecommunication
